Chairperson of The 25th Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Association of PM&R (PERDOSRI)

Distinguished Colleagues, Partners, and Friends,

For twenty-five years, the Indonesian Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association (PERDOSRI) has stood at the forefront of restoring hope, function, and dignity to individuals living with disability. As we approach our Silver Jubilee - the 25th Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT XXV) of PERDOSRI 2026 - we find ourselves at an important milestone in the journey of rehabilitation medicine in Indonesia.

It is with great pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I warmly invite you to join us in Batam, Indonesia, from 23-26 September 2026, at the Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay. This year, we move beyond the traditional boundaries of hospitals and clinics under the theme: Connecting Discovery to Practice: Rehabilitation Research for Community Empowerment.

In a nation as vast and diverse as Indonesia with its thousands of islands, dynamic communities, and growing demand for rehabilitation services - the true value of scientific discovery lies not only in publication but in its translation into real-life solutions for society.

Rehabilitation research must reach the homes, workplaces, schools, and communities where individuals strive every day to regain independence and quality of life.

Through this theme, PIT XXV PERDOSRI emphasizes the crucial bridge between scientific discovery, clinical innovation, and community-based rehabilitation practice. Our goal is to ensure that advances in rehabilitation science are transformed into accessible, effective, and sustainable interventions that empower individuals with disabilities, support families, and strengthen community participation throughout Indonesia.

Gathering in the strategic gateway city of Batam - a vibrant hub connecting Indonesia with the broader Asian region - PIT XXV PERDOSRI will serve as a dynamic forum for clinicians, researchers, educators, policymakers, and industry partners. Together we will explore emerging evidence, share clinical experiences, foster multidisciplinary collaboration, and reaffirm our collective commitment to advancing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Indonesia.

More than a scientific meeting, this Silver Jubilee marks twenty-five years of dedication, resilience, and progress in Indonesian rehabilitation medicine. It is a moment to honor the pioneers who laid the foundation of our specialty, to celebrate the achievements of today, and to inspire the next generation of rehabilitation professionals who will shape the future of functional health and disability care.

Let us gather in Batam to celebrate our shared history, reflect on the challenges of the present, and build a stronger, more inclusive future for rehabilitation medicine and the communities we serve.

We look forward to welcoming you to Batam.
Warmest regards,
dr. Suroso Agus Widodo, SPKFR, AIFO(K)
